After a little over two weeks of launching this blog, the biggest surprise is the amount of visits I am gettingto the English version from South Africa, ranking #3 behind expectables Argentina and the US.
Probably, the help I got from Greg Durst from Endeavor South Africa and this post by Fred Roed have a lot to do with it.
But beyond those helpful lifts, it is clear South Africa has a very dynamic Entrepreneurial community.
For some reason, we Latin American Entrepreneurs don’t look in that direction when thinking of partners. Neither do our VCs or Private Equity funds.
Well, maybe it’s time we start!

Hey Santiago! Greetings from SA. Thrilled to hear that you’re getting some decent traffic from us - you are indeed correct that there is a vibrant and ambitious entrepreneurial community in South Africa, especially in the Web space. It’s a little too small for our liking right now, and we haven’t quite seen the successes that South American counterparts have, but we’re hoping that’s going to change soon.
This is a fantastic blog - very insightful and I look forward to engaging the conversation with you online!
Thanks for the post Santiago.
I just came out of a meeting with Greg - Endeavor SA is doing great things over here. We are indeed a dynamic entrepreneurial country, with much promise for the future.
Great blog, inspiring stuff - keep up the good work.
Cheers,
Fred
Santi,
I paid both Mike and Fred for the posts…
Just kidding! Glad we’re helping R&R get truly global!

@Mike, Fred, Greg: Thank you guys! It is great to know more about SA! I have never been there but hope to be at an Endeavor panel there sometime soon. And if not, then it will be in 2010 for the World Cup. I promise I’ll invite you a few beers then.
