“Life can be whatever you want. This is my body and I get my hair cut the way I want”. This phrase would not be peculiar in any way, if it were not for the fact that it was said to my wife this morning by our 4 and half year-old child.
I believe the Teen Age is now a period that starts at 3 and ends around 35. Who is there to help these helpless parents of today?
Once again, those who grew up in the 70s and 80s are left thinking that we might have arrived in the World too early…
I wonder if the answer is that we are 20th Century parents, raising 21st Century children, as Martin Varsavsky argues in this post. It is clear that with the speeding up of change in the last 20 or 30 years, the phrase “generational gap” has now an entire new meaning.
Santi … you two have raised STRONG and decisive children !!
