Nothing motivates more than fighting with someone

I just arrived from Weblog Day 3.0, where I shared the opening session with Alec Oxenford. There Alec told us something I found really entertaining.

He said that one of the motivations he had when he started his blog two and a half years ago was to win a  Google Fight with his friend Fabrice Grinda.

When I started this blog I had no quantitative metrics or goals, but it is always good to have one. As Leo Piccioli always says, I love to fight, so I started wondering: “Who should I ‘fight’ with?”.

So before defining the ‘rival’ I invite you to suggest candidates. Who should I make my Google Fight with?

Once the rival is selected, i will post the result of the bouts… :)

This sounds like a fun idea. People usually fight because somewhere in their hearts they believe they can win; of course in this kind of fight the outcome is not nearly as violent so the risk is minimal.
I figured you could fight some other young entrepreneurs, and since the blog is pretty popular in South Africa I thought of Mark Shuttleworth. I couldn’t help myself and I ran the contest and you lost (but I’m not posting the results).
At least you can brag of beating Leo Piccioli, and that Officenet smashed Ofishop (don’t know if they are as much competition as they were in the 90’s).

Keep that chin up and don’t let your guard down!

@Nic: Thanks! I believe fighting is a basic human need, but you can redirect your aggressive instincts to harmless things like this, or who spits further :)

I did not know Mark, but since he beats me 12-to-1, I probably should. I will google him right away!
