The Launch of La Red Innova

redinnova

Apart from attending the Menorca Tech Talk, my trip to Spain included some vacation days (a few days to get my classic “Loose notes” I do when I travel) and presentation at a new conference on technology and innovation called La Red Innova.

Organized by Paul Largua, an Argentine who has lived in Spain for a while, the goal is to become THE conference for Spanish-speakers, like the Web 2.0 Expo is to USA, LeWeb is to France or the DLD is to Germany.

According to Damian Voltes, the first edition turned out very well. Myself in particular, I got to be in a panel that was moderated by Jos Mara Figueres, former president of Costa Rica, where entrepreneurs shared the stage with such notables as Marcos Galpern, Alec Oxenford and Romero Rodrigues.

The Bright Side of Life: The music that cheers us up when we feel down

life-of-brian

I am sure you didn’t realize but this has been the most prolonged interruption in the history of this blog. Six days without posting! And now a trip to Spain is coming up to be in La Red Innova and the Menorca Techtalk, because of that I am going to continue on a slower pace, it seems…

A little because of excessive work and travel, and a little because of the flu (the old and dear “seasonal flu”!), a little for blogging wear out. The matter is that I have been kind of unmotivated to write. The first Saturday of this month was a long one for me and when I thought about what I was going to start writing about again, music came to my rescue.

When the mood hits us, when “shit happens“, music is ideal to put things in perspective for us. Years ago, there was a song “Don’t worry: be happy” that was synonymous for not worrying too much about things. I never liked that. It seemed dumb to me. But here I will share with you a song I listen to when I need to get out of a bad mood.

The Risks of flying on an plane

nubes

Everyone that flies from time to time, knows that aeronautics are an overwhelmingly safe way to get yourself around. Much safer than any other of your alternatives.

Even so, when an accident occurs like the Air France disaster, frequent travelers feel stressed out by the monstrous drama that generates an improbable situation in which something (or better yet, everything) turns out bad. (the previous post seems prophetic, right?

Identity 2.0 and the challenges to privacy

How private is your privacy today?

The fact that there is no danger in adopting 2.0 tools does not mean they are free from generating some serious challenges for our privacy. But, let me tell all those who wouldn’t show their photos or share their stuff, the following: our World today is such that it doesn’t matter whether we want to have our stuff online or not, it will be there anyway! More so, unless you live in a nutshell, mostly sure they are already in it. If you didn’t put your data there, a friend of yours did. Or, even worse, an enemy!

Argentina para Armar, Palermo Valley and we are done for the year

Yesterday afternoon, together with several Endeavor Entrepreneurs, I was in the recording for Maria Laura Santillan’sArgentina para Armar“. The subject was “The Entrepreneurs and the current crisis” and will air on Sunday night for those who want to see it. Along with me were Jessica Trosman, Rodolfo Montes de Oca, Mike Santos and Guillermo Gotelli. I am not thrilled with how I fared but the others were very good so it’s worth a look.

Election Day - Uncensored

In this historic Election day, my friend Enrique sent me a video that I found really interesting and wanted to share with you. And soon after I published the post, Martina sent me another version, this time “uncensored” so ypou will also find it below. And for more reader feedback, you may want to see the Spanish post on the winners of my latest contests, with the “acceptance speech sent by Fede Munichor!).

The fact that voting is not mandatory in the US gives place to interesting dinamics. I always wondered what would happen if in our countries voting was optional. I tend to think that, if even Americans have to be called upon to vote, that here the only people that would vote are those who get some dirty money from politicians to do so.

Anyway, in case you are not interested in all these stuff, you will at least enjoy seeing, among others, Scarlett Johanson and Cameron Diaz or Di Caprio and Tom Cruise (according to your preferences).

My favorites…? Borat and Jason Lee. And Jennifer Aniston… but she appears so little!

The withdrawal is almost over…

I do not know how many of you I may have convinced to give American Football a chance. But the season is about to begin! To the fans who have been deprived for seven months, it is like finding the oasis after crossing the Sahara for 7 months.

So here is my final attempt to get you fired up with some unbelievable videos and the info to watch the first games for those who want to give it a try.

A Reminder of the Only Certainty in Life

We all know there is only one certainty in life: that sooner or later we are all going to die. However we all live most of the time misaligned with our true priorities in life.

A lot has been written in the last few months about Randy Pausch, even more so since last week when unfortunately he passed away. So much has been said that most likely you have already seen his last lecture (there is also a short version out of Oprah’s TV show). So this post is not to recommend that you watch it, even if you definitely should if you haven’t yet.
